1. About LVC Co-op

LVC Co-op (Live Condolence Cooperative Circle) is a free, membership-based organization established to provide direct assistance to its own members and encourage compassionate support during difficult circumstances.

Our programs are intended to help members navigate certain hardships, honor the lives of deceased loved ones, and encourage acts of generosity and community support.

By accessing our website, applying for membership, or participating in an LVC Co-op program, you agree to these Terms of Use and acknowledge the Privacy Policy below.

2. Membership and Direct Member Assistance

LVC Co-op membership is free. Our assistance programs are intended for our own members and are subject to applicable eligibility requirements, available resources, program limitations, and organizational review.

LVC Co-op may provide direct assistance to qualifying members when circumstances fall within the scope of an available program. Depending on the program and the circumstances, assistance may include limited financial support, requests for voluntary assistance from other members, or other forms of support that LVC Co-op is able to provide.

Membership does not automatically qualify an individual for financial assistance. Members may be asked to provide information or documentation reasonably necessary to evaluate a request.

LVC Co-op retains discretion to review requests, determine eligibility, establish program procedures, and decide whether assistance can be provided. All assistance is subject to available funds and applicable program requirements.

No payment or financial assistance of any amount is guaranteed. Approval of a request, previous assistance, or membership in LVC Co-op does not create a promise of future assistance.

3. Family Loss and Incidental Expense Assistance

LVC Co-op may provide financial assistance to eligible members experiencing incidental expenses associated with the loss of an immediate family member.

Assistance paid from LVC Co-op’s general fund is limited to a maximum of $500.00 per household, one time per household, for qualifying incidental expenses related to the loss of an immediate family member.

This limit is a maximum, not a guaranteed payment. The amount approved, if any, may be less than $500.00 or may be zero.

Requests may be subject to review, verification of the circumstances, and the availability of funds. LVC Co-op may establish reasonable documentation requirements and determine which expenses fall within the scope of this program.

For purposes of this program, an immediate family member generally means a spouse or domestic partner, parent, child, or sibling. LVC Co-op may clarify eligibility for other family relationships through its program procedures.

Voluntary member-to-member donations designated for a surviving member are separate from assistance paid from the general fund. LVC Co-op does not establish a maximum dollar limit for those voluntary donations. Donations are not guaranteed, and the amount received, if any, depends on the voluntary decisions of contributing members.

Approved assistance for qualifying loss-related expenses may be sent directly to the surviving member, subject to the requirements in these Terms.

This program is intended for limited incidental expenses. It is not a guarantee of payment for funeral costs, medical bills, household bills, travel, or any other particular expense.

5. Condolence Messages and Charitable Giving or Volunteer Opportunities

LVC Co-op may offer features within its condolence message app that allow members to honor a deceased person or support surviving loved ones by choosing organizations they wish to support through donations or volunteer service.

These features are intended to help members express sympathy and turn remembrance into meaningful action.

Organizations listed in the app are independent of LVC Co-op unless a separate written agreement expressly establishes otherwise. Listing an organization does not mean that LVC Co-op endorses or guarantees its services, financial practices, volunteer opportunities, or outcomes.

LVC Co-op does not guarantee that an organization will accept a donation, provide a volunteer placement, or respond to a member’s inquiry. Members are responsible for reviewing an organization’s information and deciding whether to donate or volunteer.

LVC Co-op does not operate a public referral service through this feature and does not guarantee access to outside services.

6. Privacy Policy

LVC Co-op respects the privacy of its members and seeks to handle personal information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy describes our general approach to collecting, using, and sharing member information in connection with membership, program administration, communication, and the provision of member assistance.

Information we may collect

Depending on how a member interacts with LVC Co-op, we may collect information such as:

  • Name and contact information.

  • Membership and account information.

  • Information submitted in connection with a request for assistance.

  • Documentation reasonably needed to evaluate program eligibility.

  • Information members provide when using condolence message features or communicating with LVC Co-op.

  • Records reasonably necessary to administer programs, prevent misuse, and maintain organizational records.

Members should not submit sensitive personal information unless it is reasonably necessary for the requested service or eligibility review.

How we use member information

LVC Co-op may use member information to:

  • Establish and administer memberships.

  • Communicate with members about their accounts, requests, and available programs.

  • Evaluate eligibility for assistance.

  • Verify information relevant to a request.

  • Coordinate assistance that LVC Co-op is able to provide.

  • Send voluntary assistance appeals to other members when appropriate and permitted.

  • Operate and improve our website and services.

  • Protect the security and integrity of our programs and comply with applicable legal obligations.

We seek to limit the use of personal information to legitimate organizational, administrative, and service-related purposes.

Member consent and sharing of information

LVC Co-op does not sell members’ personal information.

As a general rule, we share a member’s personal information with others only with that member’s permission. However, limited sharing may occur without separate permission when it is essential to secure benefits for the member or provide services to the member, or when otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

For example, when a member requests assistance that requires coordination with another person or organization, LVC Co-op may need to share limited information necessary to evaluate, arrange, or provide that assistance. We seek to limit such sharing to information reasonably necessary for the purpose.

When LVC Co-op sends an email or text appeal to other members seeking voluntary contributions for a qualifying member, we will seek the member’s permission before identifying the member or disclosing personal circumstances that could identify them, except where disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.

We do not authorize third parties to use member information for their own unrelated marketing purposes.

Service providers and necessary disclosures

LVC Co-op may use third-party service providers, such as website hosting, email, messaging, or technology providers, when needed to operate our services or communicate with members. Such providers may process information on our behalf as necessary to perform their functions.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect the rights or safety of members or others, address fraud or misuse, or protect the security of LVC Co-op and its services.

Where applicable, we seek to limit disclosures to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

Medical and other sensitive information

Certain programs, including Cuff Hero, may require members to provide medical documentation or other sensitive information.

LVC Co-op will use such information for the relevant eligibility review, program administration, and related assistance purposes. We seek to restrict access to individuals who need the information for those purposes and to avoid unnecessary collection or disclosure.

Members should understand that information voluntarily included in a message or assistance appeal may be seen by the intended recipients. Members should avoid including sensitive information that is not necessary for the request.

Data security and retention

LVC Co-op takes reasonable steps intended to protect member information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. No website, electronic communication method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to administer membership and programs, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, protect our organization, and satisfy applicable legal obligations. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the circumstances.

Member choices and privacy questions

Members may contact LVC Co-op to ask questions about their information, request corrections, or raise concerns about how information is being used or shared.

Requests will be reviewed in light of applicable law, legitimate recordkeeping needs, and any obligations to retain certain information.

7. Electronic Communications

By providing an email address or telephone number, members may receive communications relating to membership, program administration, requests for assistance, or other relevant organizational activities.

When appropriate and permitted, LVC Co-op may send email or text messages to members asking whether they wish to contribute voluntarily to an assistance request.

Receiving an appeal does not obligate a member to contribute. Members should not assume that an appeal means funding has been approved or that the requested amount will be raised.

Members are responsible for keeping their contact information current and notifying LVC Co-op of changes when necessary.

8. Website and Program Limitations

LVC Co-op makes reasonable efforts to provide useful and accurate information, but we do not guarantee that the website or its features will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

Programs, eligibility requirements, procedures, and available assistance may change as operational needs and available resources change. Any changes will be handled subject to applicable law and any obligations to members.

Nothing on this website should be interpreted as a guarantee of financial assistance, medical treatment, legal representation, bail or bond payment, release from detention, or access to any third-party service.

9. Member Responsibilities

Members agree to provide accurate information when applying for membership or requesting assistance, to use LVC Co-op’s services responsibly, and not to submit fraudulent requests or misuse another person’s information.

Members should not use the website to harass others, disclose another person’s private information without authorization, or engage in unlawful activity.

LVC Co-op may decline, suspend, or discontinue participation when reasonably necessary to address suspected fraud, misuse, safety concerns, or violations of these Terms, subject to applicable law.

10. Limitation of Responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, LVC Co-op is not responsible for the independent acts, omissions, services, or decisions of third-party organizations, contributors, service providers, or other members.

LVC Co-op does not guarantee that an assistance request will be approved, that voluntary contributions will be made, that a requested amount will be collected, or that a particular outcome will occur.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived or to exclude responsibility where exclusion is prohibited by law.

11. Changes to These Terms and Privacy Policy

LVC Co-op may update these Terms of Use and Privacy Policy as our programs, services, or legal obligations change.

The updated version will be published on our website with a revised effective date. Members are encouraged to review this page periodically. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a material change, LVC Co-op will follow those requirements.

12. Age Requirements for Membership

LVC Co-op membership is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age. The minimum age for membership is 18, and there is no maximum age limit. All members must meet the organization’s eligibility requirements and comply with its membership policies to receive assistance.

13. Identity Verification Requirements

Any member approved to receive assistance funded through LVC Co-op must present either a valid identification document issued by a U.S. state or a valid United States passport. Foreign passports are not accepted for this requirement.

Identity verification is required before funds are disbursed or approved assistance is provided. Members must comply with LVC Co-op’s verification procedures before receiving assistance.

14. Truthfulness Certification and Notarized Documentation

Before funds are sent on a member’s behalf, the member must sign and have notarized the required LVC Co-op document certifying that the information provided for the purpose of receiving assistance is truthful and accurate to the best of the member’s knowledge.

Completion of this requirement is mandatory before funds are disbursed. Submission of documentation does not guarantee that assistance will be approved or provided.

15. Methods of Payment and Fund Disbursement

LVC Co-op may send approved funds electronically or through the United States Postal Service using ground mail, as appropriate to the approved assistance.

19. Voluntary Member-to-Member Donations and Financial Responsibility

All member-to-member donations through LVC Co-op are strictly voluntary. Members are not obligated to donate funds to another member or to LVC Co-op.

Each member is responsible for their own decision to donate, including the amount donated and the recipient selected. To the extent permitted by applicable law, LVC Co-op shall not be held liable solely for a member’s voluntary decision to donate funds to another member or to the organization. Nothing in this section waives responsibility that cannot legally be waived.

No donation is guaranteed, and members should not assume that a requested donation will be made or that a particular amount will be raised.

LVC Co-op may retain these emails as part of its documentation process. Sending a complaint does not guarantee that LVC Co-op can resolve the matter or compel a response from the detention facility.

Legacy Message Terms and Conditions

1. Purpose of the Legacy Message Service

The purpose of this service is to give friends, family members, and others an opportunity to honor an individual according to that person's own wishes while encouraging meaningful actions that can benefit other people and the community.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to create and submit a Legacy Message.

  • LVC Co-op membership is not required to use this service.

  • You must provide accurate information requested during the submission process.

  • You must be the individual appearing in and submitting your Legacy Message.

3. Recording and Identity Verification

  • You are responsible for recording your own video message.

  • At the beginning of your recording, you must state your first and last name for identity verification.

  • Your date of birth must be entered into the submission form but does not need to be spoken in the recording.

  • You will have an opportunity to review your recording before approving and submitting it.

  • You are responsible for ensuring that the video accurately reflects your wishes and that you are comfortable with its contents before submission.

LVC Co-op may review the beginning of a submitted recording for the limited purpose of confirming the submitter's identity. This does not authorize routine viewing or review of the remainder of your personal message.

4. Recipient Information

You must identify the individual you want to receive your Legacy Message by providing the recipient's first name, last name, and telephone number.

You are responsible for providing accurate recipient information. You should inform your intended recipient that you have designated them to receive a Legacy Message when appropriate.

LVC Co-op staff will manually verify the identity of the intended recipient before delivering a message. Providing recipient information does not automatically authorize delivery to anyone who requests access.

LVC Co-op reserves the right to withhold delivery if the recipient's identity cannot be reasonably verified.

5. Privacy and Storage of Messages

Legacy Messages are intended to remain private and are not published as public content on the LVC Co-op website.

LVC Co-op does not routinely watch or review the personal content of stored Legacy Messages. Limited access may be necessary for identity verification, delivery, security, technical maintenance, or other legitimate operational or legal purposes.

Your video and associated recipient information are stored in restricted, nonpublic storage. Access is limited to authorized purposes.

By submitting a Legacy Message, you acknowledge that electronic storage and transmission involve technical risks and that absolute security or uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.

6. Personal Wishes and Suggested Actions

The actions expressed in a Legacy Message represent the personal wishes of the individual submitting the message. They are suggestions intended to inspire meaningful acts of kindness and community support, not requirements or obligations.

Suggested actions may include:

  • Performing a personal good deed or helping someone in need.

  • Volunteering with an organization.

  • Supporting an organization through fundraising or donations.

The individual creating the message is free to express personal preferences about how they would like to be honored.

LVC Co-op does not guarantee that recipients or other individuals will carry out the suggested actions.

7. Delivery of Legacy Messages

LVC Co-op will use the recipient information provided by the submitter to identify and verify the intended recipient before arranging delivery.

Access to a Legacy Message is not automatically granted simply because someone knows the submitter or claims to be a family member, friend, or representative.

LVC Co-op will make reasonable efforts to follow the submitter's designated recipient instructions. However, delivery may be delayed or prevented by circumstances including inability to verify the recipient, inaccurate contact information, technical difficulties, or other circumstances beyond LVC Co-op's reasonable control.

8. Personal and Legal Limitations

A Legacy Message is a personal expression of wishes and preferences. It is not a legally binding will, living will, advance directive, power of attorney, or substitute for any legally recognized estate-planning or healthcare document.

LVC Co-op does not provide legal advice or guarantee that wishes expressed in a Legacy Message will be legally enforceable.

Individuals who wish to establish legally binding instructions should consult an appropriately qualified legal professional.

9. Appropriate Use and Content

You agree that your Legacy Message will not contain unlawful threats, harassment, intentionally harmful material, or content that violates another person's legal rights.

You are responsible for the content of your recording and for obtaining any necessary permission to include another person's private information or likeness.

LVC Co-op reserves the right to refuse or restrict a submission that violates these terms or creates a legitimate legal, privacy, or safety concern.

  • You understand the privacy and storage limitations described in these terms.

  • You understand that the actions expressed in your message are personal wishes and suggestions, not obligations.

  • You understand that a Legacy Message is not a substitute for legally recognized documents.

  • You have reviewed and agreed to these Legacy Message Terms and Conditions.

Your submission confirms your acceptance of these terms.
